Day 28 -- Culture Station Seoul 284, Docking Seoul, and Coex
After class this morning, I had a quick lunch at Greek Day before meeting Mom and Dad at the subway station next to Culture Station Seoul 284, where we saw a collection of immersive pieces of art. The first piece was a giant screen that looked like a glass panel waves were crashing up against. There were also audio effects around us, and to me it was very relaxing.
Another highlight was a room with three screens that showed CGI images of the Redwood Forest.
Our favorite experience in Culture Station Seoul 284 was a movie with a screen that partially extended onto the ceiling. It showed large, jelly-like figures that posed in ways that were meant to represent art styles over time. We all really enjoyed this one!
We left Culture Station Seoul 284 next to briefly visit Docking Seoul, an art installation with a spiral ramp that wound around a blue sculpture in the center. On the walls of the ramp itself there were various art works that played with light and technology.
We took a long subway ride to Gangnam next. We admired the unique architecture of the Prugio building, which to me looked like a slice of cheese with all of its circular indents.
We walked to Coex Mall next, where we first saw the Starfield Library with the huge illuminated bookshelves protruding out from the walls. I think the Starfield Library is super pretty and I was glad to be back. We walked around the mall and then explored the floors of the connected Hyundai Department Store, which had higher-end clothing. We ultimately went back to Coex and had a dinner of dumplings and tteokbokki before going to the Tangent building to see its unique facade and the Gangnam Style statue across the street from it. We went to Gong Cha next before finally heading our separate ways.
