Day 8 -- Class and Hyewha

After class today, I took the subway to the Hyewha neighborhood so I could go to Nanumi Tteokbokki. Marissa took me there two years ago and I loved it and wanted to come back, especially because it is well-known for having some of the best tteokbokki in Seoul. It definitely lives up to its reputation -- the tteokbokki was delicious (as was the soup that came with it). The restaurant is super small, with the kitchen and seating area all being in the same room, and with all of the customers eating together at the same round table. Because I came later, I was eventually the only one left along with all of the employees. One of them was cleaning and asked me if it was too spicy for me, and then we had a brief conversation about the fact that I had been there before two years ago and came back. The whole conversation was in Korean, and I am always proud when I can have conversations with people outside of the classroom setting!

I walked around the neighborhood for a while and stopped by an Olive Young to buy some skincare products that the Olive Young I went to a few days ago didn't have. I then took the subway back to Ewha and went to my room to do my homework because there more than usual today. I went on a brief walk in the evening and stopped by a convenience store to get some triangle gimbap as a snack (because I had a late lunch I wasn't too hungry for a big dinner). I headed back to my dorm again and ran into Noah on the way, who I talked to briefly, and also ran into my friend from class Son-il who lives on my floor. I finally made it back to my room, tried my new face wash, and watched the latest episode of a TV show before going to bed.
