Day 30 -- Songdo

After class, eating lunch in my room, and buying some new textbooks, I took a long subway ride to Songdo (a recently developed smart city) with Mom and Dad. When we arrived, we first saw the uniquely shaped Tri Bowl building, which, as the name suggests, looked like three bowls. It reminded me a bit of the DDP and I thought it was a really cool structure.

We walked around the central park area next, where we got to see more of Songdo. Because Songdo is very new, the skyscrapers were sparse in comparison to other cities, and it was interesting to see that there were a lot of repeated skyscrapers using the exact same designs. In the park, we also saw various sculptures, bridges, some hanok, and an area full of deer.

After walking around for a while, we went to the Incheon Urban History Museum, which walked us through the history of Incheon, much of which involved Japanese settlement and occupation. It was really interesting, and we wished the museum also included modern information about the more recent developments in the area.

We did some more walking next, and ultimately stopped at a restaurant for dinner. Mom and I shared some naengmyeon with bulgogi, and it tasted really good.

We then walked over to G-Tower, where we went to the 33rd floor to see a view from up high of Songdo. It was really interesting seeing it from above because we could get a better sense of its size, as well as some areas of land that are likely going to be further developed.

After coming down from the observation deck, we explored some of the fun technology in the lobby, like a tool that tracked our movements and plotted our locations onto a screen, before finally taking the subway back to Seoul.
