Day 41 -- MMCA
After class today, I ate some food while I called Agomoni because she had a lot of updates from New Haven to tell me. I then went to Cafe Knotted for a donut before I went to the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. The MMCA has always had slightly more contemporary art that what I usually like, but this time there were a few cool things on display that I was glad to see. The current exhibition focused on how we interact with objects, and one of the collections in particular was very creative. It featured the materials that make up various objects, and condensed the materials into rectangular prisms that are the same weight as they make up in the original object. For example, one piece showed the materials that went into a Nokia 3000, and had the exact weights of aluminum, steel, rubber, and all of the other materials that went into this phone.
There were also some pieces at the MMCA that explored the merging of cultures, like one work which featured a baseball bat soaking in a jar of soy sauce to represent the various sides of the artist's cultural identity.
After the MMCA, I went back to the dorm before going out again for a dumpling dinner. I went back to my dorm and did some homework before going to sleep.
